Description

This small two-part unit with harmonious proportions opens with four front leaves and two belt drawers. It rests on a molded base.

The uprights and the central frame of the lower body are adorned with long stylized palmettes. They frame the four leaves on which unfolds a vegetal decoration made of stems and leaves sculpted in symmetry around two mascarons topped with feathers. The two panels of the leaves are dimpled in a molded frame.

Windings of acanthus leaves decorate the two drawers.

The panels of the upper body are carved with beautiful foliage arranged around a lion’s muzzle.

On the uprights, acorns and small fruits appear in the middle of the leaves and stems.

Two consoles support a slightly overhanging cornice. The entablature is embellished in its center with a winged putti head and a vegetal decoration.

The side panels are simply molded.

This cabinet stands out for its elegance and the quality of its sculpture. The motifs of the friezes as well as the panels are varied and the ornamentation is worked with great refinement.
