Description
This very beautiful table in blond walnut wood, with a dense and tight grain, conveys with vigour and elegance the spirit of the Louis XIII period.
The four legs are turned into twists and around the vigorous torso that animates the legs, an elegant rib is wrapped around it, creating a powerful double torsade. The legs stand on connecting dowels supported by flattened ball feet.
An intricate strut connects them, with a fifth foot in the same pattern at its centre. The brace is made up of twisted balusters, replicas of the five uprights, which are assembled on the connecting dowels.
The rectangular top rests on a narrow moulded belt that houses a large drawer.The form is classical, but the virtuosity of its complex struts, the superb turning and the quality of the wood make this table an extraordinary and rare model of its time.
